Christ: Divine Mysticism Part 1

The difference between eastern and western mysticism is the person of Jesus Christ. Western mysticism speaks of Christ as a continuation of His own incarnation within the Christian. “I live, now not I, but Christ lives in me.” Gal:2:20 . This then, becomes God’s ultimate plan for His creation and that is the divination of the human person through the person of Christ Jesus. St. Augustine tells us, “God became man in order that man might become God.” If Christ’s members were not Himself, He would not have said to St. Paul, “Why do you persecute Me.” Acts :26:14 Christ did not choose to say My saints or My servants or My brethren, but Me. Therefore, Christ sees through our eyes. He listens through our ears. He speaks through our lips. He blesses through our hands. He lives through our heart. Christian mysticism is not looking at Christ and an imitation of Him, but a total transformation into Him.
